Ngorongoro Safari FAQs

When is the best time to visit Ngorongoro Crater?

Ngorongoro Crater offers excellent wildlife viewing year-round, but each season has unique advantages:

  • Dry Season (June-October): Peak tourist season. Best general wildlife viewing as animals congregate around water sources. Clear skies, minimal rain. Cooler temperatures. Busiest with tourists.
  • Wet Season (November-May): Lush green landscapes, beautiful photography. Calving season (January-February) brings predator action. Migratory birds present. Fewer tourists, lower prices. April-May can have heavy rains.
  • Shoulder Seasons (November, March): Good compromise with decent weather, moderate crowds, and good rates.

Wildlife Note: Unlike Serengeti, most crater animals are non-migratory residents, so you'll see similar species year-round. Birdlife is most spectacular November-April.
