We'll transfer you to your luxury lodge in Arusha where you can relax after your journey. In the evening, our lead safari guide will conduct a comprehensive briefing covering all aspects of your upcoming migration safari, including current migration locations, wildlife viewing etiquette, and daily routines.

After an early breakfast, we transfer to the airport for your scheduled flight to the Serengeti. Depending on season, we either continue exploring the northern crossing zones or fly south to witness the calving season (typically January-March). We'll focus on this incredible birthing phenomenon, watching calves take their first steps while predators patrol the periphery. Evening celebration dinner at camp.

Upon arrival in Arusha, you'll be transferred to either Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight or to a local hotel if extending your stay. Farewell from your guide with memories of Africa's greatest wildlife spectacle.

River crossings primarily occur in the Northern Serengeti and Masai Mara from July through October, with peak action typically in August and September. However, crossing timing depends on rainfall patterns and herd movements. Some years see crossings as early as June or as late as November. Our guides monitor herd movements daily and position our safaris accordingly for the best viewing opportunities.

Calving season occurs primarily from late January through March in the Southern Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation Area. During this period, approximately 8,000 wildebeest calves are born daily! This attracts predators like lions, hyenas, and cheetahs, creating dramatic predator-prey interactions. While witnessing actual births requires patience and luck, you'll certainly see very young calves and hunting attempts. It's a season of both tender new life and brutal survival struggles.

We maintain safe and ethical distances from all wildlife. During river crossings, we position vehicles at established viewing points along riverbanks, typically 50-100 meters from crossing points. This provides excellent viewing and photography opportunities while minimizing disturbance to the animals. Our guides are experts at predicting crossing points and securing optimal viewing positions. For photography, we recommend lenses of 200-400mm for detailed shots, though wider angles also capture the spectacle's scale.

While we optimize timing and locations for crossings, wildlife behavior is unpredictable. However, even without a crossing, the migration areas offer incredible wildlife viewing: massive herds gathering at riverbanks, crocodiles basking, predators patrolling, and dramatic landscapes. We also focus on other migration aspects like calving, grazing movements, and predator interactions. Our success rate for witnessing crossings during peak season is over 85%, but every safari offers unique wildlife experiences.
